§ 55.1-1204. Terms and conditions of rental arrangement; payment of rent; copy of rental arrangement for tenant.
A. A proprietor and tenant may include in a rental contract terms and conditions not prohibited by this chapter or other guideline of law, consisting of rent, charges for late payment of lease, the term of the agreement, automated renewal of the rental agreement, requirements for notice of intent to abandon or end the rental agreement, and other provisions governing the rights and commitments of the parties.
B. A property owner will offer a potential renter a written rental arrangement consisting of the terms governing the leasing of the residence unit and setting forth the conditions of the landlord-tenant relationship and will provide with it the statement of tenant rights and obligations established by the Department of Housing and Community Development and published on its website pursuant to § 36-139. The parties to a written rental contract shall sign the kind developed by the Department of Housing and Community Development and published on its site pursuant to § 36-139 acknowledging that the tenant has gotten from the property manager the statement of occupant rights and responsibilities. The written rental arrangement will be effective upon the date signed by the celebrations.
